Gotta Catch'em All

Has anyone else realized that as they got older, the more they wanted to stay young? I remember being fresh out of high school and being ready to take on the world. Eventually I realized how scary and mean the world really was and quickly tried to throw myself back into my childhood -- the world of Pokemon. Now weren't those the days? Waking up early to watch Ash and Pikachu fight off Team Rocket, while Brock oogled over Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy, and Misty always ended up dragging him away by the ears? Pokemon monopolized our entertainment -- we watched in on TV, played 5 different versions on our gameboys, and Nintendo64 even got in on the Pokemon Action. We had the card game (it eventually got banned from elementary schools) and some of us even turned it into out own live action role play (LARP) game. Eventually, we grew up and Pokemon got lame. That's when Hannah Montana swooped down and destroyed all other kid shows... entertainment as only gotten worse since the country girl with an identity problem took over. Even Pokemon took a turn for the worse. They came up with so many new kinds of Pokemon they couldn't all fit into the Poke Rap.
I found myself at the age of 19... oldest you can be and still be considered a teenager while the law makers see you fit to be accountable as an adult. Horrible year of life, as far as I'm concerned. College sucked, living on campus sucked, having no real food really sucked, and being an hour away from home definitely sucked. I would have given anything to be a little kid again. As fate would have it, I stumbled across our old gameboy (the color version) and Pokemon (the blue one). For the rest of the semester I was a college student with the mind of a seven year old. I got done with homework and then fought my way through gym trainers. I caught a Ponyta and reluctantly read about Plato. I studied for finals and defeated Giovanni. And life was good as long as I had Pokemon to escape to. Once I beat the Elite Four I put the game down. I couldn't be seven for forever. It was a sad realization. But I'm taking it back to college with me. Who knows when I'll need to make my escape once again?
This time, I think I'll choose bulbasaur.
